After the two nominations in 2021 (GRAMMY) and 2020 (LATIN GRAMMY) for her studio album “Close To Me”, the extraordinary artist is now also honored with two nominations (Latin Grammy 2023 and a Grammy Award 2024) for the live album “Saudade, Color Of Love”. In addition the Poruguese singer and composer Maria Mendes who has travelled the world of musical expression in many ways won the Dutch EDISON. DownBeat magazine called her “a top class jazz singer” and legends such as Quincy Jones and Hermeto Pascoal praised her. Maria Mendes has released four impressive solo albums, most recently a blend of symphonic jazz and Portuguese fado on the highly acclaimed “Close To Me” and the stunning new live album “Saudade, Colour of Love”. Mendes’ wealth of influences and experiences contribute to what Exclusive magazine called “one of the most engaging, enchanting vocal approaches available today.” In 2023, Maria brings her unique vision to the concert stage, announcing the birth of her Pocket Orchestra, consisting of the 4-Tet and a 10-piece chamber orchestra.
